Ambassador Hubbard Congratulates President Roh Moo Hyun on Reinstatement

May 14, 2004

At the Asia Society's 14th Asian Corporate Conference in Seoul today, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Thomas C. Hubbard, congratulated the Korean nation and Korean people for their successful conclusion of the very difficult constitutional process they have undertaken during the past two months. Ambassador Hubbard stated that, "The conduct by Koreans of the first impeachment ever in Korean history, and the simultaneous conduct of Korean open elections for the National Assembly, are examples to the world and certainly reaffirm the faith that all Americans have in the strength of Korean democracy. My government looks forward to working closely with President Roh Moo Hyun and the new National Assembly in dealing with the important issues that we face together."
